Gale S. Peterson, 66, Cortlandt Manor Resident

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. — Cortlandt Manor resident Gale S. Peterson died Tuesday, May 31. She was 66.

Peterson was a registered nurse and, prior to retiring, served as head nurse in orthopedics at Phelps Memorial Hospital. 

Peterson is a graduate of William Tennent High School, where she played softball and was MVP of the field hockey team her senior year. 

She received her nursing degree from Presbyterian Hospital in 1970. 

She served as a civilian nurse overseas in Frankfurt Army Hospital while her husband served his country in the U.S. Army from 1972-74. 

Peterson is survived by her husband, Frederick; brother, Thomas Stevenson and his wife Terri; and sister, Barbara Robinson and her husband Frank.

Peterson was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Jean (Sinclair) Stevenson.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington St., Peekskill. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. 

Private cremation will follow.
